Children's University

We are pleased to announce that we are now working with the
Nottingham Trent Children's University

The Children's University (CU) Trust is a charitable trust that provides 7 to 14 year olds (and 5 to 6 year olds with their families) with exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences outside normal school hours.

A Passport To Learning has been created, in which 7 to 14 year old children - and 5 and 6 year olds with grown-ups - collect 'stamps' and hours of accredited learning. This contributes to the award of a certificate, encouraging them to access Children's University provision and a wide range of other worthwhile out-of-school-hours learning opportunities.

As part of our work with the Children's University our wildlife photographer, Barbara Meyer offers talks on big cats, her work for British wildlife and on our responsibility to our natural environment.

Through an ever increasing human population there is less and less space for the natural world. Through her photography and talks Barbara brings us closer to wildlife and its natural habitat while highlighting our impact on it and outlining ways how we can protect it.

Besides the above-mentioned talks, which can be tailored to suit the audience (in view of age and also group size), Barbara offers also interactive sessions where children can explore issues for wildlife and/or our natural environment and try to find a solution that will help to improve the situations.

Since Barbara is a professional photographer and offers photography courses this option is of course also available as part of the Children's University.

As a guidance my usual charge for schools and youth groups in Nottinghamshire are as follows:
Talks and interactive sessions (60 minutes) * - £50

* longer durations are available (£25 per additional hour)
Full-day photography course (6 hours learning - theory and practical exercises) ** - £135
Half-day photography course (4 hours learning - mainly practical exercises) ** - £75

** maximum 8 children per course
